Pernek - Baba

This walk is not the easiest, it starts right in the village of Pernek and takes you all the way up to the top of the Baba mountain resort. The hardest part is right at the beginning with a steep climb, but after that it gets a bit easier until about halfway, then you are heading back down to the village. But do not worry, the views and nature you get along the way totally make up for it. At the top of Baba, especially during the season, you will probably run into more hikers and cyclists, and there is even a place for a snack. Enjoy your walk!

The approximately 12-kilometre route leads through both marked and unmarked trails. It is located on both sides of a primary road, which it crosses twice. Be careful when crossing. You can download the route here.

The elevation profile of the route begins with a steep climb. The first kilometre is the most challenging. When descending, caution is also advised, as certain sections are very steep.

If you are arriving at the starting point by car, you will find a suitable parking lot at the end of the village of Pernek. Here is the link to the location on Google maps. The beginning of the route is unmarked, so you will need to find it in the bushes just behind the parking lot.

After half a kilometre of steep ascent, we reach a crossroads, go straight through it and continue climbing...

After one kilometre, we reach the top of Klokocina, which is not remarkable in any way, so we simply continue...

The trail continues to ascend, becoming less steep and passing through an area of dense forest growth.

Suddenly, however, the trees thin out and the landscape opens up before us...

...with breathtaking views.

At this point, our journey along the unmarked trail ends, and we join the red route, which will lead us to the Baba mountain resort. By the way, this red route forms part of the backbone of hiking trails in the Little Carpathians. During the season, this area is frequented by both hikers and cyclists.

At the midpoint of our journey, we reach the Baba mountain resort, which is primarily a winter destination, so most of the stalls and restaurants are closed during the summer months...

...However, the roadside inn with a restaurant remains open all year round.

We continue climbing for a bit longer and soon encounter several junctions, so be sure to keep an eye on your GPS navigation.

After this, the trail begins a gentle descent, which later becomes steeper. At this point, we will leave the red route and continue on the yellow one. Be careful, as the turnoff is quite inconspicuous.

Gradually, as we approach the village of Pernek, we find educational trails and benches for relaxation in the forest.

After entering the village, between the houses we still find narrow romantic nature paths, which gradually turn into wider paths that will lead us to our parking lot. Thank you for walking with me.
